Daniel Barry

One of my best achievements in cycling was representing New Zealand at the 2006 Junior World Road Cycling Champs in Spa, Belgium where I finished 33rd. Following the worlds I raced mostly within New Zealand while I completed my degree and focused on local races such as the Benchmark Homes Cycling Series. 2010 was my first full international season and my results from this year would be my best achievement in cycling so far. I was based in Quimper, France where I raced for the amateur team Leucémie Espoir Quimper. Over the course of the season I won 6 races. I'm very excited about racing in the United States next year with Pure Black Racing. The major goal for the season will be to support my teammates and get some wins on the board for Pure Black. If I can win a race or two myself in the process that would be fantastic! Outside of cycling I enjoy taking a bit of time out every now and then to visit Nelson where I grew up. It's always good fun getting out in the kayaks in the harbour and spending a bit of time at the beach. Like many cyclists, I think coffee is pretty great.
